Behind every child in our Education Passport Program is a family carrying more than most can imagine. Many of the mothers and caregivers we serve are walking through grief, abandonment, and overwhelming responsibility while still fighting to give their children a future through education.

One mother is raising young sons after their father left for the Dominican Republic in hopes of finding work, only to build a new life there and never return to support his family. Sadly, this is a painful reality many families in Haiti know all too well.

Three of our students recently lost their mother to cancer and are now being raised by their father, who is doing everything he can to provide financially while also carrying the daily responsibilities of the home alone.

Two widowed mothers in our program are now the sole providers for their children after losing their husbands unexpectedly. One widow has 1 young child and the other widow has 5 children that they are raising alone while navigating deep loss and economic hardship.

Another student, now in high school, has lost both parents and is being lovingly cared for by her older sister, who has stepped into the role of guardian.

When you give to the Education Passport Program, your support is tailored to each family’s unique situation. Some students receive partial scholarships that cover tuition only, while others receive more comprehensive support including tuition, books, school supplies, and uniforms. Every gift helps remove barriers to education and gives a child the opportunity to stay in school and complete their education.
