With the full approval of the Bishop of Mbeya Diocese, Caritas Veritate Missions Missions will raise funds and help operate a 300-person capacity (MWH) and Maternity Ward. Maternity waiting homes are proven to lower the rates of infant, child, and maternal mortality. 

Mwambani Mission Hospital is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Mbeya, functioning under the supervision of Archbishop, Rev. Gervas John Mwasikwabhila Nyaisonga. It is located in Songwe District Council. Songwe District is one of the four districts in the Region of Songwe.  The hospital health services cover the entire district of Songwe but the service area extends beyond district boundaries to Chunya and Mbeya Rural Districts (Mbeya Region), Momba, and Mbozi Districts (Songwe region).  The facility provides health services to a population of 174,709 people (87,500 males and 87,209 females) as per the 2012 National Population Census. It is the only referral Hospital in Songwe.

The Diocesean sisters (Mary, Queen of Apostles) work in the hospital as octors, nurses, and other trained medical professionals.  In addition, they operate a school of nursing to train future medical professionals. The MWH will be built on the hospital grounds, guarnateeing the proximity of trained medical personnel for the women and children who will stay in the facilty.  The project will expand the existing delivery ward at the hospital and also provide beds for expectant mothers who need to arrive early because of travel difficulties or pregnancy complications.  The sisters care for the physical and spiritual needs of the patients.

Our fundraising goal includes construction of the facility and operating costs for the first year.
