Mission Statement:
In the United States, we are blessed to take the right to "life, liberty, and property" for granted. In much of the world, however, others do not enjoy these protections. Women are particularly susceptible to property grabbing crimes, especially in countries where they are viewed as inferior and even property themselves. In Uganda, property grabbing crimes often happen after the death of a husband or father. Relatives or neighbors quickly divide up the home or land, and the surviving widow and orphans are left homeless. The woman and her children are often chased out violently with machetes and some have their homes destroyed. Police often dismiss these cases as "family matters" and law enforcement institutions often lack the training needed to address this tragic issue.
This September, as a recent graduate from James Madison University, I will have the opportunity to work alongside the International Justice Mission in Uganda to fight against these crimes. As a communications intern, I will be learning firsthand how IJM rescues and restores victims of property grabbing and helps bring perpetrators to justice.
I myself was rescued from a life of poverty by the grace of God and the love of two incredible, adoptive parents. Therefore, I feel called to dedicate my life and talents to serve other women in poverty. Working with IJM will allow me to further sharpen my abilities in communications while striving to counter violence against impoverished families.
To complete this yearlong internship in Uganda, I need to raise $19,500 USD for living and travel expenses. For this short-term mission, the initial costs are the highest but I will also have monthly living expenses. Though this number seems daunting, a vital part of this experience is learning to rely on God to provide. Any and all help is extremely helpful and much appreciated. People committing to pray for me would also be a wonderful blessing.
Thank you for reading my story. I hope you will partner with me to help further justice in Uganda.

This is for all the months I missed. I did not realize I was no longer giving automatically.
Catherine,
This belonges to August. My apologize for the inconvenients.
Hi Catherine,
I had to re-arrange my charitable giving so that it happens in the middle of the month because a bunch of my big expenses come on the first of the month and I get paid bi-weekly. That said, it should work out to the same amount.

Catherine, this is the proceeds from the fund raiser the Morie did for those of you from Riptide who are serving as missionaries. May the Lord refresh and strengthen you.

Hey, Catherine! I had to edit my payment again because of a change of credit card. Sorry for the trouble! Hope everything continues to go awesome!
